Meet the Team

Behind the retreat is a small, dedicated team of artists and educators who care deeply about process, place, and people. We design experiences that balance structure and openness—offering guidance where helpful and space where needed.

David Hunwick

David is a sculptor, educator, and program founder whose work is rooted in expressive, figurative sculpture and a long-standing love of teaching. He approaches sculpture not as literal representation, but as a way of exploring movement, vulnerability, resilience, and inner states through form. His work balances a strong understanding of anatomy with a freedom to let intuition lead, allowing each piece to develop naturally.

Inspired by nature, lived experience, and the physical act of making, David’s sculptures grow through slow, attentive processes. Organic forms, subtle shifts, and a sense of rhythm play acentral role, inviting viewers to connect with the work on both an emotional and visual level.

For David, drawing and sculpting are not about perfection, but about attention—learning to see more clearly and respond honestly to what is in front of you. At the I CAN SKETCH retreat in Prague, he looks forward to creating a focused, welcoming space where participants can reconnect with their practice, explore line and form, and enjoy the shared experience of making art in an inspiring setting.

Alexandra Chertif is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Dublin, Ireland. Her work focuses on visual storytelling, clear concepts, and expressive compositions, aiming to make ideas feel thoughtful, intentional, and accessible. Calm and organised, she values a steady and supportive creative process, helping artists slow down, build confidence, and gain clarity without pressure. Julie Luna

Julie Luna is a multidisciplinary creative with a deep, long-standing relationship to working with materials and form. She currently focuses on hand-built ceramics, creating functional pottery through a studio practice that balances practicality with quiet beauty. Her work is grounded in observation and everyday use, shaped by a sensitivity to materials and a belief in slowing down and paying close attention to what is already present. Her background in interior and graphic design subtly informs her natural sense of space, colour, and balance.

Julie has taught in studio settings for over a decade and is known for her calm, generous, and encouraging presence. Thoughtful and deeply observant by nature, she creates learning environments that feel welcoming and unpressured, where curiosity and confidence can grow. Her teaching is process-driven, focused less on perfection and more on trust, exploration, and discovery.

Married to fellow creative John Luna, Julie lives and works in Victoria, British Columbia. Much of her work reflects the balance she values between quiet attention and shared experience.
